Here are the competition guidelines and rules: 

  1. You must be at least 21 years old to enter.

  2.  The submission period begins on June 15, 2020.  Submissions will be open until 100 

 entries are received, or by the deadline date July 31, 2020 (whichever occurs first).

  1. Submissions must not include hate speech or violence.  

  2. All paid entries will receive a copy of the anthology.

  3. Only original, unpublished work will be accepted. 

  4. All work must be submitted electronically.  Do not put your name anywhere within the

file. The title of your file must include your name.  Submit your work as a document file (doc, docx).  If  accepted, we reserve the right to reformat your work and/or edit it. 

  1. Simultaneous submissions are permitted.  You must notify us immediately by email at

 CAWanthology@gmail.com if your work is accepted elsewhere for publication. 

  1. The winning entries will be published in the anthology.  Judges will select winning 

 entries from each of the following categories:

  1. five winners for best poetry

  2. three winners for best short story or fiction 

  3. five winners for best flash fiction

  4. two winners for best essay or prose work

  5. two winners for best play or theater piece

            No other prizes will be awarded.  All decisions by the judges are final.

  1. Per entry, you may submit as follows:  

    1. three poems of no more than 20 lines per poem; OR

    2. a short story or work of fiction of 1800 words or less; OR 

    3. two flash fiction pieces of no more than 250 words; OR

    4. one essay or prose work of not more than 1250 words.

    5. one play (theater piece) not more than 10 pages (including setting and character descriptions)

  2. There is a non-refundable $20 submission fee per entry payable by Google Pay to

            Your entry will not be accepted until we receive payment.

  

  1. Submissions must be in English.  If a quotation is used in a language other than English 

you must supply a translation.

  1. Multiple submissions are allowed, each accompanied by a separate $20 fee.

  2. Authors will be notified of acceptance by September 30, 2020 by email.

  3. You must complete the online entry form with all required information, 

including your name, address, phone number, e-mail, title(s) of work submitted, and a short bio (50 words maximum). By submitting your work, you guarantee that you own all rights to your work.

  1. You grant Calling All Writers and its affiliates the rights to publish the submitted work

and promote it in print, on social media, in an e-book, and a podcast as part of this anthology.  Upon publication in print, online, on social media and podcast, all rights revert to the author.   Please read the following waiver thoroughly.

  1. WAIVER AND HOLD HARMLESS:  By participating in this competition, you agree 

to waive the right to institute or file suit for any action for damages or other relief (including injunctive, declaratory, or monetary relief or other) against Calling All Writers and any and all of its affiliates (including, but not limited to, Hannah’s Books, Tammy Green and/or those assisting her or its affiliates and any editor or assistant editor or judge involved in the submission, selection and publication in any form or media, hereafter referred to as “we” and “us”). You further agree to hold us harmless.  We maintain the right to reject and refuse participation in this contest for any reason pursuant to the contest guidelines and rules, and we reserve the right to make exceptions and amendments to these guidelines and rules.
