COMPETITION GUIDELINES AND RULES - SEPTEMBER 27 - SEPTEMBER 30 DEALS!

  1. You must be at least 21 years old to enter.

  2. Per entry, you may submit as follows:  

    1. up to 4 poems of no more than 20 lines per poem; OR

    2. two short stories of 3000 words or less; OR 

    3. three or four flash fiction pieces of no more than 250 words; OR

    4. two essays or prose works of not more than 1800 words.

    5. two plays, each play not more than 2500 words (12 pages) including setting and character descriptions.

  3. There is a non-refundable $10 submission fee per entry payable by Google Pay to

            Your entry will be accepted when we receive payment.  

  1. Only original, unpublished work will be accepted.

  2. Submissions will be open until September 30, 2020

  3. Submissions must not include hate speech or violence.

  4. All paid entries will receive a copy of the anthology.  $20 entries receive a printed copy.

  5. All work must be submitted electronically.  Do not put your name anywhere within the file. The title of your file must include your name.  Submit your work as a document file (doc, docx).  We reserve the right to reformat your work. 

  6. Simultaneous submissions are permitted.  You must notify us immediately by email at CAWAnthology@gmail.com if your work is accepted elsewhere for publication.  We will publish the winning entries.  Judges will select several winning entries from each of the following categories.  The first prize winners will each receive $25. No other prizes will be awarded.  All decisions by the judges are final.

Here are the categories:

  1. best poetry

  2. best short story or fiction 

  3. best flash fiction

  4. best essay or prose work

  5. best play or theater piece

             

  1. Authors will be notified of acceptance by October 30, 2020 by email.

  2. Submissions must be in English.  If a quotation is used in a language other than English 

you must supply a translation.

  1. Multiple submissions are allowed, each accompanied by a separate $10 fee.

  2. You must complete the online entry form with all required information, 

including your name, address, phone number, e-mail, title(s) of work submitted, and a short bio (50 words maximum). By submitting your work, you guarantee that you own all rights to your work.

  1. Upon publication in print, online, on social media and podcast, all rights revert to the

author.   You grant Calling All Writers and its affiliates the rights to publish the submitted work and promote it in print, on social media, in an e-book, and a podcast as part of this anthology.  Please read the following waiver.

  1. WAIVER AND HOLD HARMLESS:  By participating in this competition, you agree 

to waive the right to institute or file suit for any action for damages or other relief (including injunctive, declaratory, or monetary relief or other) against Calling All Writers and any and all of its affiliates (including, but not limited to, Hannah’s Books, Tammy Green and/or those assisting her or its affiliates and any editor or assistant editor or judge involved in the submission, selection and publication in any form or media, hereafter referred to as “we” and “us”). You further agree to hold us harmless.  We maintain the right to reject and refuse participation in this contest for any reason pursuant to the contest guidelines and rules, and we reserve the right to make exceptions and amendments to these guidelines and rules.
